Description
The C65 Classic Limited Edition sits just before the C65 range properly took shape. It uses the 43mm case from the earlier C60 Mk1 and Mk2 era, but removes the bezel entirely. Instead of pushing further into dive watch territory, this takes a step back and simplifies things. That one change does most of the work. Without the bezel, the dial opens up and the watch feels less like a diver and more like a straightforward sports watch.
It keeps the size and presence of the older Trident case, but changes how it wears and how it reads. The dial is simple. Applied markers, clear minute track and not much else. Released in June 2016 as a limited edition of 175 pieces, the C65 Trident Classic Mk I Limited Edition Automatic features the traditional Trident handset with the seconds hand in orange, and a blue dial. The orange seconds hand is the only real point of contrast, but it’s enough. It gives the watch some character without overdoing it. It’s not really a C60 and not quite a C65 as we now know it. It just sits in the middle. In hindsight it makes sense as a stepping stone, even if it didn’t feel like that at the time.
