Description
For a long time CW was missing a proper everyday automatic. There were great divers and interesting one‑offs, but nothing that really nailed the brief of a watch you could put on every morning and not think about. When the Sealander arrived in April 2021 they pretty much hit it out of the park. The 39mm size worked for most wrists and the case wore slimmer than the numbers suggested. The design was straightforward, it worked on a bracelet or a strap and it didn’t look out of place in any setting.
The C63 SH21 Blue Marine Foundation (along with its sister release - the Snow Leopard) is widely regarded as the last hurrah of Christopher Ward’s SH21 movement. Its defining features are:
It was released in March 2023 as one of two limited editions of 150 pieces and was the first Sealander to use Christopher Ward’s in‑house SH21 calibre.
It is powered by the SH21 automatic movement, bringing COSC chronometer certification, higher‑level finishing visible through a sapphire case back and a five‑day power reserve.
It features a wave‑patterned dial with a power reserve indicator, adding visual interest while keeping the overall layout recognisably Sealander.
It was produced in collaboration with Blue Marine Foundation and sold out almost immediately on release, reflecting both the appeal of the SH21 within the Sealander case and the limited nature of the edition.
