WH2200FF C6 Kingfisher Diver-pro (08/2008)

£395.00

Quick facts

Description

The Kingfisher Pro occupies an important place in Christopher Ward history as the brand's first purpose-built dive watch. Released during the company's formative years, it established many of the themes that would go on to define later Christopher Ward divers: robust construction, clear legibility and a focus on practical functionality rather than unnecessary complexity.

Housed in a 42mm stainless steel case and measuring 13mm thick, the Kingfisher Pro is powered by the dependable Ronda 715 quartz movement. A unidirectional dive bezel provides elapsed-time tracking, while the dial remains clean and highly legible, reflecting the straightforward tool-watch philosophy that underpinned the design.

One of the more interesting details is found on the caseback, where Christopher Ward incorporated an NDL (No Decompression Limit) table. While most owners are unlikely ever to need it, the inclusion reinforces the watch's diving credentials and captures the practical, enthusiast-led approach that characterised many of Christopher Ward's early watches.

Looking back, the Kingfisher Pro feels very different to the divers that followed. It lacks the refinement, Light-catcher case and established design language of the later Trident range, but that's precisely what makes it interesting. As Christopher Ward's first dive watch, it represents the starting point of a lineage that would become one of the brand's most successful and enduring collections.
