Jumping hour watches sit slightly apart from most complications. They are neither decorative nor obviously practical in the way a chronograph or power reserve is. Originally developed by Johannes Jahnke for the C9 range, the JJ01 jumping hour movement was introduced in the C1 case in 2017. Baton indices and a single central minute hand keep the dial clean and balanced, with no seconds display to distract from the complication itself.
The layout looks unconventional at first glance, but becomes intuitive very quickly in daily use. At the heart of the watch is the JJ01 movement, which replaces the conventional hour hand with a jumping disc visible through an aperture on the dial. At the top of each hour the numeral advances instantly, accompanied by a crisp mechanical click that makes the passage of time tangible. Housed in the C1 case, the Jumping Hour sits naturally alongside the Moonphase and Power Reserve as part of a small group of watches that define what the C1 collection is about: restraint on the surface with something more unusual underneath.

Supplied on a CW vintage oak leather strap in very good condition. Note that the first picture is a library shot on a blue Cordovan - it actually comes on the black vintage oak leather strap shown in the rest of the pictures.
