Quick facts

Description

The C7 Rapide Chronograph Mk2 was introduced in August 2012 as the successor to Christopher Ward's original motorsport-inspired chronograph. While retaining the same 42mm case size and broad design philosophy of the Mk1, the Mk2 incorporated a revised dial layout and a tachymeter-equipped aluminium bezel, giving the watch a more overtly sporting character while preserving its everyday practicality.

In practical terms, the Mk2 is a 42mm tri-compax quartz chronograph featuring elapsed 1/10th seconds at 12 o'clock, a 30-minute chronograph register at 9 o'clock and running seconds at 6 o'clock. A date window sits at 3 o'clock, while the tachymeter bezel provides a traditional motorsport timing function. At just over 10mm thick, it wears flatter than its dimensions suggest and remains a practical everyday chronograph.

This is a very special limited edition of the mk2 Chrono - it was the first watch released as the official Timing Partner to Bluebird Speed Records, the C7 Rapide Chronograph Mk II Bluebird was released in 2012 to mark the 100th anniversary of Sir Malcolm Campbell's first foray in his Bluebird car, hence the limited edition of 1912 pieces.
Aside from the colour of the dial, other unique features are: the bluebird set into the crown; the bluebird on the seconds dial, and the design of the back plate to reflect the wheel profile of the early Bluebird car.
