Description
The C5 Malvern Automatic is the watch that started it all for Christopher Ward. Introduced in 2005 in its original 38mm Mk1 form it was CW’s first watch and the model that put the brand on the map. The Mk1 ran from 2005 to 2012, followed by the Mk2, which increased the case size to 39mm and covered the period from 2012 to 2016. The Mk III, launched in January 2017, retained the 39mm size and represented a clear visual reset while remaining recognisably a Malvern.
Launched in April 2014, this C5 Malvern Slimline was Christopher Ward's thinnest manual-wind watch at the time. Housed in a 40mm case measuring just 8.55mm thick, it paired clean, uncluttered styling with a handwound movement and display caseback. The result was a watch that felt far more traditional than many of CW's other offerings, with the daily winding ritual adding a touch of old-school charm that an automatic simply can't replicate.
This example features the earlier v2 Christopher Ward logo and showcases everything the Slimline does well: a crisp dial, elegant proportions and a case that slips effortlessly under a cuff.

Condition and performance
The watch is in very good condition with signs of use.
Supplied on a brand new CW vintage oak leather strap.
Comes boxed with owner’s manual/certificate of authenticity (but this is blank without date or serial number).
