Description
The C60 Trident Mk2 refined rather than reinvented what came before it. Building on the Mk1, it replaced aluminium bezels with ceramic, shifted dial markers from pips to batons, upsized the crown and doubled water resistance from 300m to 600m, establishing the Trident Pro 600 identity. The automatic range expanded significantly in both size and colour, and the line matured into something broader and more confident. Later Mk2 evolutions brought the move to the 9‑o’clock wordmark logo, and taken as a whole, the Mk2 era is where the Trident became the modern CW diver most people recognise.
In 2017 CW started a four-watch series of 316L Limited Editions, so called because they featured a 316L stainless steel bezel in place of the usual ceramic insert. The first had a bright orange dial, followed by this blue version. In 2018 came the yellow edition, with the black version completing the series the following year. Each release was limited to 316 pieces, making them relatively scarce.
For me, the blue is the pick of the bunch. CW absolutely nailed the dial colour; it's one of the best shades they've produced. Depending on the light it can look bright and vibrant or take on a darker tone, while the orange Trident seconds hand adds just pops with contrast and personality.
I've owned this model four times over the years, and I’m tempted to keep it for myself again. The colour combination, steel bezel and orange accents all work brilliantly together. The only reason one never seems to stay in my collection is that, for my wrist, it's just a smidge too big. Otherwise, it's one of my favourite variations on the Mk2 Trident formula.
