SOLD WH1902K C63 Sealander 20 for 7 CWE Limited Edition (11/2024)
Quick facts
Reference: C63 Sealander Automatic
Category: Adventure
Size: Medium
Movement: Automatic
Condition: Very good
CW (manufacturer) warranty: Expires November 2029
Buy it if you want: an automatic watch that just works for everyday use (with a twist).
Description
For a long time CW was missing a proper everyday automatic. There were great divers and interesting one‑offs, but nothing that really nailed the brief of a watch you could put on every morning and not think about. When the Sealander arrived in April 2021, they pretty much hit it out of the park.
The 39mm size is spot on for most wrists and the watch wears slimmer than you’d expect. It feels well made without feeling precious and the design is clean without being dull. It works on a bracelet or a strap and doesn’t look out of place in any setting. Now available in a variety of sizes and colours, if someone asked me to recommend a first automatic watch for daily wear this would be the one, hands down.
Based on the C63 Sealander, this is the fourth model created in collaboration with the Christopher Ward Enthusiasts Facebook Group and features a small number of clearly defined changes from the standard watch. The most obvious difference is the dragonfly blue dial, which has noticeably more depth and presence in changing light. This is paired with an orange seconds hand, adding a subtle hit of colour without disrupting the otherwise clean layout. The date wheel is also unique to the edition, with the numbers 20 and 7 printed in orange rather than black.
As kindly explained by Guy, the significance of “20/7” is twofold: it marks 20 years of Christopher Ward as a brand and seven years of support from the CWE group. In keeping with that commemorative intent, the watch is strictly limited to just 27 examples, making it one of the smallest‑run Sealander variants to date.
