The Malvern line sits right at the start of Christopher Ward's story. When the brand launched in 2005, the C5 Malvern Automatic was one of just two models offered, establishing a design language rooted in classic proportions. While most early Malverns leaned towards traditional dress-watch styling, Christopher Ward was quick to explore variations on the formula. The C5 Malvern Aviator, introduced inJune 2006, was one of the earliest examples of that experimentation, taking the familiar Malvern platform and reworking it through the lens of a classic pilot's watch.
The original C5 Malvern Aviator was launched as a limited edition of 1,936 pieces, a nod to the year the Spitfire first flew. Sharing its 38mm case diameter and 10.8mm height with the standard Malvern Automatic, it retained the same comfortable proportions while adopting a distinctly aviation-inspired character. Available with either a black or white dial, the design centred on clarity and immediate legibility.Lumed leaf hands, large Arabic numerals and the prominent triangle marker at 12 o'clock drew directly from traditional pilot-watch design, while a numbered inner chapter ring provided a precise seconds track.

Condition and performance
The watch is in good, used condition- it has been regularly worn and shows multiple signs of use

Crystal: Clear, no marks
Supplied on its original bracelet with one spare link. It will fit a wrist up to c. 7.5 inches
Comes boxed (some light deterioration) with cleaning cloth, owner’s manual/certificate of authenticity and covering letter.
Timegrapher: Approximately +5 seconds per day.
Strap options
As an 18mm lug width, alternative strap options are limited.
