Description
The W2 Lido was Christopher Ward’s interpretation of the integrated bracelet sports watch for the women’s collection. Introduced in August 2008, it shared many of the design cues found across the contemporary C2/C20 range, combining a flowing integrated bracelet, sculpted case and clean, modern styling in a compact 26mm format. Powered by a quartz movement, it was designed as an everyday watch, offering the practicality and reliability expected from a ladies’ watch while retaining a distinctive, contemporary appearance.
Like its larger counterparts, the W2 Lido arrived well before integrated bracelet designs returned to mainstream popularity. Although it was only produced for a relatively short period, being retired in June 2010, it remains an interesting part of Christopher Ward’s early history. Viewed today, the W2 Lido can be seen as an early example of the integrated sports-luxury aesthetic that would eventually become one of the defining trends in modern watch design.
