Description
The C60 Trident Mk2 refined rather than reinvented what came before it. Building on the Mk1, it replaced aluminium bezels with ceramic, shifted dial markers from pips to batons, upsized the crown and doubled water resistance from 300m to 600m, establishing the Trident Pro 600 identity. The automatic range expanded significantly in both size and colour, and the line matured into something broader and more confident. Later Mk2 evolutions brought the move to the 9‑o’clock wordmark logo, and taken as a whole, the Mk2 era is where the Trident became the modern CW diver most people recognise.
Within that Mk2 family, the C60 Pro 600 Automatic Chronograph was the point where things went furthest. Launched in 2016 at £1,400 on a strap or £1,450 on a bracelet, it took the Mk2 Trident template and dialled it up. At 43mm across, 17mm thick and around 230 grams on a full bracelet, it is a watch you’re never unaware of on the wrist, which explains why it has long been known as The Beast. I’ve always liked that it isn’t just brute force. Look more closely and there are plenty of details to enjoy: polished case accents lifting the bulk, metallic sub‑dial rings set against a dark blue, multi‑layer dial with guilloché waves and the running seconds shown on a ‘breather’ sub‑dial, a lovely touch. Inside is the familiar ETA Valjoux 7750, a proven chronograph movement still used by Christopher Ward today and widely found across brands such as Breitling, TAG Heuer, Panerai and Omega.
