The C1 Grand Malvern Small Seconds presents this idea in a restrained and classical way. Introduced in August 2017, it uses the same design language as the rest of the Grand Malvern range, with a clean dial, applied markers and balanced proportions. The small seconds sub‑dial adds interest without dominating the layout and reinforces the dress watch character of the piece. While the movement had previously appeared in the C9 Small Second, that watch leaned into a marine aesthetic with Roman numerals, whereas the C1 version pares everything back to something simpler and more in keeping with the Malvern name.
At its heart is the SH21/K calibre, a hand‑wound in‑house movement offering a full 120 hours of power reserve. The absence of a rotor keeps the case profile under control and provides an uninterrupted view of the movement through the sapphire case back. As with other SH21‑powered watches, it reflects a period when Christopher Ward was prepared to invest heavily in mechanical substance even when the result was understated rather than attention‑seeking. The C1 Grand Malvern Small Seconds fits neatly alongside the Power Reserve and Moonphase as part of the early C1 story, each exploring a different way of engaging with time without losing sight of clarity and wearability.

Condition and performance
The watch is in very good condition with visible but light signs of wear.
Supplied on a CW leather strap in good, used condition.
Comes boxed with owner’s manual/certificate of authenticity, cleaning cloth and COSC certificate.
