£395.00

Quick facts

Description

The C3 sits right at the beginning of Christopher Ward’s history. When the brand launched in 2005, it did so with just two models: the C5 Automatic and the C3 Chronograph Quartz. At a time when most new brands leaned heavily on mechanical movements to establish credibility, CW’s decision to include a quartz chronograph from day one was both practical and telling. The C3 offered accuracy, reliability and broad appeal at an accessible price point, and it quickly became a core part of the early catalogue. Over the following years the C3 chronograph evolved through multiple iterations, refining its case, dial and detailing while remaining firmly rooted in the Malvern design language. By the time the Mk III arrived, the C3 had become a mature and recognisable line rather than simply a launch‑era curiosity.

The C3 Grand Tourer, introduced in May 2018, sits within that late‑generation phase of the C3 / C30 Malvern family. It uses the same case as the C3 Chronograph Mk III, but with the Ronda 5021.D quartz movement in a traditional bi‑compax layout, with running seconds at three, a 30‑minute chronograph register at nine and a date window at six. The design deliberately references mid‑century chronographs, particularly those produced in the 1950s by brands such as Heuer, with restrained proportions and a dial free of unnecessary complication. Rather than chasing modern sports‑watch cues, the Grand Tourer focuses on balance and legibility, tying together the C3’s long‑running quartz heritage with a consciously vintage aesthetic.
