Quick facts

Description

The Lido was Christopher Ward’s first serious attempt at an integrated bracelet sports watch, introduced in the late 2000s when the category was still largely inactive. With its integrated case and bracelet, slim profile and versatile proportions, it clearly referenced the sport luxury watches of the 1970s, but it arrived well before the market returned to that style in any meaningful way.

Although sound in both concept and execution, the Lido struggled to find a clear audience. It sat between dress and sport at a time when tool watches dominated interest, and it never developed into a long term platform. In hindsight, the Lido reads as a well judged idea released at the wrong time. It was retired in 2012, and now stands as an early indicator of a direction CW would return to far more successfully years later.
