Quick facts

Description

The C65 range only really came into focus in 2018. Earlier uses of the name were essentially variations on the C60 and never quite stood on their own. That changed with the release of the C65 Trident Diver, which marked CW’s first deliberate move into the retro dive space and the point at which the C65 became a platform rather than a side note. This was also the first diver to use the Light‑catcher case, bringing a more sculpted and fluid profile to a category that had previously been more utilitarian in CW’s lineup. From there the C65 quickly expanded into a broader family, covering vintage divers, military styles and more experimental offshoots, and in the process began to rival the C60 as the brand’s defining dive watch.

Introduced in January 2019, the C65 Trident Automatic builds directly on that foundation, retaining the Light‑catcher case and overall proportions while shifting the emphasis towards convenience. The blue bezel variant pairs a black dial with a blue aluminium insert that feels entirely in keeping with the watch’s mid‑century inspiration, adding colour without tipping into novelty. While the case still wears slimmer than the numbers suggest, the move to an automatic movement changes how the watch fits into daily wear. It trades the interaction of the hand‑wound versions for something more hands‑off, making it easier to live with day to day while preserving the restrained design cues that define the C65 family.
