Description
Launched in August 2017, the C7 Rapide Mk3 Quartz formed part of a full rethink of Christopher Ward’s motorsport range. Although CW never formally used a Mk3 designation, the change was obvious. The quartz chronograph adopted a cleaner, more cohesive case design alongside a bicompax dial layout and introduced the Twin Flag logo at 12 o’clock, with the Christopher Ward wordmark removed from the dial entirely. This marked a clear shift in visual identity for the brand’s motorsport watches.
While the quartz version did not feature the complex case construction seen on the automatic models, it benefited from the same overall design direction. The case is simpler and more conventional but well proportioned, and the dial makes effective use of texture and applied details to add interest without clutter. Combined with the reliability and practicality of a quartz chronograph movement, the Mk3 Quartz offered a more accessible entry point into the redesigned C7 range. Now discontinued, it remains an overlooked but well resolved motorsport watch and one that shows how much more confident the C7 line had become by this stage.
This example is a prototype where the date has a white background rather than the black found on the production models.
