WH1707S C65 Trident Anthropocene Limited Edition (12/2019)

£775.00

Quick facts

Description

The C65 range only really came into focus in 2018. Earlier uses of the name were essentially variations on the C60 and never quite stood on their own. That changed with the release of the C65 Trident Diver, which marked CW’s first deliberate move into the retro dive space and the point at which the C65 became a platform rather than a side note. This was also the first diver to use the Light‑catcher case, bringing a more sculpted and fluid profile to a category that had previously been more utilitarian in CW’s lineup. From there the C65 quickly expanded into a broader family, covering vintage divers, military styles and more experimental offshoots, and in the process began to rival the C60 as the brand’s defining dive watch.

Launched in October 2019, the C65 Anthropocene is Christopher Ward’s first explicitly concept‑based watch. Built on the C65 Trident GMT, it retains the range’s ’60s dive‑watch design while stripping it back to something more stark. The polar‑white dial is deliberately minimal, with an inclined outer ring that adds depth without decoration. White Super‑LumiNova is used throughout, reinforcing the watch’s cold, monochrome character. Despite the narrative framing, the Anthropocene remains fundamentally a practical C65, using restraint rather than complication or colour to distinguish itself from the rest of the range.
