Description
The C65 range only really came into focus in 2018. Earlier uses of the name were essentially variations on the C60 and never quite stood on their own. That changed with the release of the C65 Trident Diver, which marked Christopher Ward’s first deliberate move into the retro dive space and the point at which the C65 became a platform rather than a side note. This was also the first diver to use the Light Catcher case, bringing a more sculpted profile to a category that had previously been more utilitarian in CW’s lineup. From there the C65 expanded into a broader family covering vintage divers, military watches and more experimental models and in the process began to rival the C60 as the brand’s defining dive line.
Introduced in August 2019, the C65 Dartmouth formed part of Christopher Ward’s first formally licensed Military Collection and used the C65 family’s Light Catcher case. The design draws on mid‑century Royal Navy dive watches with a glass box crystal, 150 metre water resistance and a restrained dial layout. The Royal Navy Naval crown is deeply stamped into the stainless steel caseback and is the only explicit reference to the Service. The model was originally released with a blue dial and was later joined by a black dial version in February 2020, expanding the Dartmouth line without altering its specification or proportions.
