Description
The C5 Malvern Automatic is the watch that started it all for Christopher Ward. Introduced in 2005 in its original 38mm Mk1 form it was CW’s first watch and the model that put the brand on the map. The Mk1 ran from 2005 to 2012, followed by the Mk2, which increased the case size to 39mm and covered the period from 2012 to 2016. The Mk III, launched in January 2017, retained the 39mm size and represented a clear visual reset while remaining recognisably a Malvern.
The C5 Malvern Quartz Mk2 sits within that second phase of the model’s life, retaining the same proportions but shifting the focus towards a simpler, more practical everyday watch. The core design stays true to the Malvern idea, clean dial, slim case and no unnecessary detail, but with the reliability and ease of a quartz movement. This particular version is one of the Wimbledon-themed limited editions released in June 2015, with just 100 pieces produced in purple and a further 100 in green. The connection is subtle but obvious enough, and the colour gives the watch a very different feel to the standard Malvern models. It stands out without becoming a novelty.
