Description
Launched in September 2010, the C9 Harrison Automatic was one of three models released to mark the 250th anniversary of John Harrison’s H4 marine chronometer, the breakthrough timekeeper that solved the problem of determining longitude at sea. Named in honour of the British horologist, the Harrison range was conceived as Christopher Ward’s formal, historically grounded collection from the outset.
In its standard automatic form, the C9 Harrison was positioned as a refined, movement‑led dress watch, using proven Swiss calibres from ETA and later Sellita. The design established a consistent visual identity for the range, with a large but thin‑bezelled case, disciplined dial layouts and restrained detailing. Over time, the Harrison family expanded to include time‑and‑date models, big day‑date variants and more complex executions such as single‑pusher chronographs and jumping hours. Together, these watches represent an important stage in CW’s development, showing the brand consolidating its design language and credibility at the higher end of its catalogue before the introduction of an in‑house calibre.
