Description

The C900 Single Pusher Chronograph is one of Christopher Ward’s most ambitious and technically significant watches. At first glance it appears to be a classic chronograph, but a closer look reveals something far more unusual. Instead of the conventional two-button layout found on almost every mechanical chronograph, the C900 controls all timing functions through a single pusher integrated into the crown. Start, stop and reset are all managed through this one control, creating a cleaner case design while showcasing a much more sophisticated approach to chronograph engineering.

At the heart of the watch is the JJ01 movement, developed in collaboration with renowned watchmaker Johannes Jahnke. Based on the ETA 7750, the calibre was extensively re-engineered to create a true monopusher chronograph configuration. Rather than simply adapting the appearance of a chronograph, the modifications fundamentally changed how the mechanism operated, transforming a proven workhorse movement into something considerably rarer and more technically intriguing. The movement’s complexity was visible through the exhibition caseback, allowing owners to admire a calibre that represented a significant step forward in Christopher Ward’s watchmaking ambitions.

Launched in 2010, the C900 Single Pusher Chronograph marked an important milestone for the young brand. It demonstrated that Christopher Ward was prepared to move beyond offering value-focused Swiss watches and into the realm of genuinely innovative mechanical watchmaking. While never a mainstream model, the C900 earned the respect of enthusiasts who recognised both the ingenuity of its movement and the significance of Johannes Jahnke’s contribution. Today it stands as one of the most historically important watches in the company’s history and remains highly sought after by collectors who appreciate independent thinking and mechanical originality.
