12 month extended warranty (SH21 or JJ movement)

This is the product page for the 12 month extended warranty for the SH21 or JJ movements.

1. Standard Warranty Coverage

All Christopher Ward watches purchased from Ward Hoard come with a minimum six month movement warranty period, covering manufacturer defects and workmanship issues.

As all Christopher Ward watches have a five year transferable warranty from new, many of the watches that we sell automatically come with the balance of that warranty. That balance will often exceed six months from date of purchase from Ward Hoard.

For those that do not, we offer our own complimentary six month movement warranty period from date of purchase, which can be extended for peace of mind to either 12 months or 24 months for an additional cost.

For non-CW watches, where they are not covered by that manufacturer’s warranty, we offer a complimentary three month warranty period.

2. Extended Warranty Terms

At the time of purchase, customers may opt to extend their warranty beyond the standard six month period for CW watches as follows:

  • 12 month extended warranty: Additional coverage for an extra six months beyond the standard six month warranty.

  • 24 month extended warranty: Additional coverage for an extra 18 months beyond the standard six month warranty.

3. Coverage Details

This extended warranty covers internal movement issues and manufacturer defects for the duration of the warranty. It also covers battery issues for the first three months of any warranty only.

4. Exclusions

We run our warranty programme under similar principles to Christopher Ward, with the following exclusions.

  • Accidental or deliberate damage or neglect, including over-winding of any hand-wound mechanical watch and issues from adjusting the date wheel between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.

  • Cosmetic damage (e.g., scratches, dents, corrosion, or discoloration) that does not impact product functionality. This includes GMT hand alignment (a common issue on Sellita SW300 or similar GMT calibres)

  • Water damage due to failure to maintain water resistance - all watches covered by the Ward Hoard warranty will typically be at least five years old. We recommend that you always test the water resistance before taking it into water

  • Timekeeping - ordinary moderate declines in timekeeping due to the need for regular maintenance.

5. Claims Process

If there is a fault, please get in contact straight away and we will discuss the options depending on the circumstances. Typically, they are:

a) CW repair: Return to CW to be fixed, send us the quote and we’ll cover the cost in virtually all cases. We reserve the right to offer a full refund instead in the event that the repair costs are prohibitive;

b) Ward Hoard repair: Return to us (at our cost) and I’ll arrange a repair (most likely with CW) and return to you;

c) Local repair: Take it to your own trusted watch repairer and provide us with the quote. Again, we reserve the right to use Christopher Ward as the repairer or offer a full refund instead in the event that the repair costs are prohibitive; or

d) Refund: If the issue arises within three months of purchase, you can return to us for a full refund.

For battery replacements, the easiest and quickest solution is usually for us to cover the cost of replacement at your local jewellers on presentation of a receipt.
