WH1320 C5 Malvern Automatic Mk3 (undated)
CHRISTOPHER WARD C5 MALVERN AUTOMATIC MK3
Introduction:
The first rule of Christopher Ward Anorak Club is to know the C5 Malvern Automatic was their first watch and the one that put them on the map!
The 38mm C5 Malvern Mk1 had a great run and was available between 2005 and 2012. The Mk2 went up to 39mm and filled the period between 2012 and 2016. The Mk3 stayed at 39mm and was launched in 2017 at a cost of £500 for the leather and £580 on the bracelet before being retired in mid 2020.
The watch for sale here is the third iteration of that classic piece, without which the CW story might have been very different!
It features the ‘white’ face, which in the flesh has a metallic type finish with hints of ivory and silver. The polished, applied batons contrast perfectly with the blue hands.
The Mk3 case design is far more shapely than its slab-sided cousins, giving it quite a slimline look - it’s only 10mm tall, but looks even less thanks to the case design.
It is probably one of CW’s best kept secrets. You don’t see many of them at all, but it oozes quality. It takes it fundamental design cues from the C1 Grand Malvern range. This 39mm automatic features a two-piece convex dial and a new handset.
Warranty
It comes with a Ward Hoard six month warranty.
Strap:
It’s fitted with a lightly used CW Orlando grey leather strap that I think suits it perfectly.
Head only - discount of £30. Exchange for a brand new CW leather or hybrid, an extra £20
Exchange for another colour leather strap, no cost change.
If you’re looking for a bracelet - this model originally came on the Milanese/mesh (of which I have a few for sale on my bracelets page). Discount of £20 on the prices of the bracelets shown on that page if you’d like one.
Condition
It’s in very good condition - sold to me as new old stock. Looks perfect.
On the timegrapher it’s registering great time.
Offered in the latest CW box without papers.
