Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire Edge Blue 42mm

Introduction

Christopher Ward has a history of innovation and generally shaking things up. From 2005’s C5 auto with its ETA 2824 movement at an unprecedented price, to the striking C70 face designs starting in 2009, to the first JJ modified calibre in 2011, to having the ‘audacity’ to create their own 120h power reserve SH21 movement in 2014 - they certainly can’t be accused of always just playing it safe.

Launched in April 2020, the first C60 Sapphire was based on the then all new 40mm Mk3 C60 Trident and came with blue translucent face and case back to show off its Sellita automatic heart - it was an instant sales hit, paving the way for orange and black face versions and more recently a Sapphire version of the new C63.

It takes 40 separate processes to make the see-through sapphire dial, backed by a film of coloured polycarbonate (or PVD smoke effect for the black dial), of the C60 Sapphire. This procedure delivers a material that is not only beautiful and scratch-resistant but also incredibly thin (0.6 mm thickness). Similarly, the case back features a coloured sapphire exhibition window made using the same process.

This first model ceased production at around the end of 2023.

The second version (the Sapphire Edge, this watch) was introduced in March 2025. The C60 Sapphire Edge has an ultra-thin sapphire dial that lets the wearer see the movement inside, a sapphire bezel and Christopher Ward’s first-ever luminous Aquaflex rubber strap. The Sellita SW300 movement allows for a case height of less than 11 mm and a power reserve of up to 56 hours.

Warranty

It is covered under CW’s transferrable warranty to March 2030.

It is fitted with a luminous Aquaflex rubber strap. Please ask for other options.
