Farer World Timer Roche

Introduction

Whilst it’s mostly about CW, it’s not all about CW. There are some fantastic other brands out there that I’ve had as part of my own collection that operate a similar space to CW. I’m not talking your Rolex, Omega or Tudor, more your Halios, Pinion, Monta, anOrdian or Zero West.

This is one such smaller brand, Farer, that operates in a similar space to CW and is known for its splashes of colour. I’ve been a long time admirer of this model - most World Timers (like the C900 are huge), but this one is a fabulous size for those that aren’t gorillas - 39mm diameter and 46mm lug to lug.

The Farer World Timer - Roche takes its inspiration and design cues from the classic Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe of the 1930s. The 39mm bead-blasted stainless steel case gently curves over your wrist with tapered lugs, and a lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a case thickness of 10.5mm ensures a comfortable fit. Polished and brushed surfaces transition with crisp edges. On the right side is a signed crown with a bronze cap, on the left side at 10 o’clock a crown to rotate the inner city bezel. A smooth bead-blasted bezel holds an AR-coated domed sapphire crystal.

The striking dial is made up of an outer rotating city bezel, applied baton and Arabic numeral indexes mark the hours. At 3 o’clock a date window. An inner globe with a 24-hour disc printed numerals in red and black. Elegant sword hands coated in SuperLumiNova complemented with a tapered sweeping second hand. Text is precisely applied at 12 o’clock and around the 24-hour disc.

On the reverse a screwed-down exhibition case back. Inside an automatic ETA 2893-1 Elaboré, 21 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, this movement was introduced by ETA in 1992. The centre 24 disc is adjusted with the crown in its second position.

The watch comes fitted on a 20mm quick-release Farer leather strap with a signed buckle and the watch comes with its Farer presentation box, travel case and papers.

It also comes with a Farer World Timer stainless steel bracelet so you have the best of both worlds.

Condition

The watch itself is in excellent condition with no observable marks or scratches.

Timing is running at -6 or 7 spd on the timegrapher, so well within spec.

Comes boxed in its original packaging with warranty card, owner's manual, cleaning cloth and tags.
