Christopher Ward C60 Mk2 Trident Pro 600 316L Blue Limited Edition

The original C60 Trident Pro was launched in 2009 and was an instant hit (you can read the story in my Blog post here). 2015 saw the introduction of the much-improved Mk2 C60 and in 2017, at the same time as the introduction of the current company logo, positioned at 9 o’clock, CW started a four-watch series of C60 316L Limited editions - so called because they all featured a 316-grade stainless steel metal bezel instead of the usual ceramic insert. The first had a bright orange face, then came the far more subtle blue. In 2018 we got the bright yellow, then last up in 2019 came the black edition. Each watch had a production run of 316 pieces.

Those 316L watches (plus the Bronze editions which were also introduced in 2017) differ from all other Mk1 and Mk2 C60s in that they had ‘flat’ faces without the subtle wave patterns we’d become used to. It was those last Mk2 watches that paved the way for the Mk3, which also dropped the waves.

The watch for sale in this listing is the 316L blue edition, which was launched toward the end of 2017. When available from CW, the selling price was £730 for the leather/rubber model and £800 for the bracelet version. They sold out in early 2018, so this March 2018 watch will be one of the youngest and very last ones sold..

Condition

This watch is in fantastic used condition. It has seen occasional wear, so there are some light blemishes here and there from use, but nothing worthy of particular mention. The ‘worst’ marks can be found around the insides of the lugs and are not caused by wear, but by some amateur strap/bracelet changes!

It’s fitted with stainless CW bracelet with user-friendly ratchet micro adjustment, however anoraks will note this bracelet has polished centre links meaning it’s not originally from a 316L model - the 316L optional bracelets had all brushed links. If you want the all brushed look that can easily be achieved with the purchase of a watch brushing pad for a few quid on eBay and a few minutes spent rubbing! Note that three links have been removed. Two are included and one is missing - that’s only going to be an issue if you have a very large wrist.

This is a ‘full set’ box and papers watch. Supplied with user manual (including Certificate of Authenticity), polishing cloth and those two spare bracelet links.

The watch is in perfect working order and the timegrapher shows it to be running at approx. +9sec per day - comfortably inside the +/-20sec specified for this model by CW and just outside the -4 to +6 sec of a COSC certified model.

In summary, it’s a very nice example of an increasingly collectable limited edition C60.

User Manual

Christopher Ward has the 316 yellow, orange and black manuals on their website (actually the black is on there twice!), but not the blue - I think it’s pretty easy to work out where they’ve gone wrong!

Anyway, here’s a link to the orange manual, which is exactly the same apart from the face colour: https://www.christopherward.com/on/demandware.static/-/Library-Sites-cw-library/default/dwdab69f2a/pdfs/Dive/c60-trident-316l.pdf
