Christopher Ward C60 Mk2 Trident Pro 600 316L Blue Limited Edition

The original C60 Trident Pro was launched in 2009 and was an instant hit (you can read the story in my Blog post here). 2015 saw the introduction of the much-improved Mk2 C60 and in 2017, at the same time as the introduction of the current company logo, positioned at 9 o’clock, CW started a four-watch series of C60 316L Limited editions - so called because they all featured a 316-grade stainless steel metal bezel instead of the usual ceramic insert. The first had a bright orange face, then came the far more subtle blue. In 2018 we got the bright yellow, then last up in 2019 came the black edition. Each watch had a production run of 316 pieces.

The watch for sale in this listing is the blue edition, which was launched toward the end of 2017. When available from CW, the selling price was £730 for the leather/rubber model and £800 for the bracelet version. They sold out in early 2018, so you’ve not been able to buy a new one for a few years now unless you managed to pick up an ‘archive find’ version, which are usually late-returned press samples or showroom models sold after the official retirement date.

Condition

I bought it as a used watch, but I’ve had a very close look at it and I can’t find a mark on it - it’s pristine. So if you’re looking for this model watch that’s as close to new as you can get, then you’re in luck!

It’s fitted with a black CW Hybrid rubber strap which, like the head, appears to be brand new. It’s the later version of their Hybrid straps which is a bit thinner, softer and more comfortable than the earlier version.

Supplied in the current CW bamboo case with unused polishing cloth and two covering letters, one of which introduces the watch and gives you a few operational tips, the other explains that it’s a discontinued model so no user books are left at the time of sale and directing you to their website for a PDF version.

It’s unfortunately missing its warranty card, so I don’t know exactly how old it is, but the fact that it’s in a bamboo box and is on a Mk2 Hybrid strap (both of which were introduced in 2019), and it was sold as a discontinued model (it sold out in March 2018) suggest to me that it’s probably only a couple of years old - as CW don’t provide a serial number lookup service, we’ll unfortunately never know.

The watch is in perfect working order and the timegrapher shows it to be running at approx. +15sec per day - comfortably inside the +/-20sec specified for this model by CW.

User Manual

Christopher Ward has the 316 yellow, orange and black manuals on their website (actually the black is on there twice!), but not the blue - I think it’s pretty easy to work out where they’ve gone wrong!

Anyway, here’s a link to the orange manual, which is exactly the same apart from the face colour: https://www.christopherward.com/on/demandware.static/-/Library-Sites-cw-library/default/dwdab69f2a/pdfs/Dive/c60-trident-316l.pdf
