Christopher Ward C60 Mk2 Trident Pro 600

The original C60 Trident Pro was launched in 2009 and was an instant hit (you can read the story in my Blog post here). 2015 saw the introduction of the Mk2 C60. The most significant update was the introduction of the ceramic bezel (instead of painted aluminium), which was on another planet in terms of scratch resistance.

The watch for sale here is a Jan 2015 model, making it one fo the very first Mk2 C60s sold - the serial number is a relatively low 294. It features the CHR. Ward logo at 12 o’clock on the face. In early 2017 the logo was changed to the current version and was moved to 9 o’clock on most models. The current CW logo was used on Mk2 faces between 2017 and 2019 when the Mk3 model was introduced.

As time has gone on, these Mk2 models have been gathering an increasing band of followers who prefer the original C60 case design. We’re getting to the point now where nice Mk2 models are selling at the same prices as used Mk3s.

Strap

This watch was originally fitted with a rubber strap (I know that from the SKRSI model number, S for stainless finish, K for black face, R for red bezel and SI for silicone rubber strap). Those 2015 rubber straps were prone to splitting, so at some point that strap has been upgraded to a CW stainless steel bracelet from a Mk1 C60. I know it’s a Mk1 bracelet because the clasp has the original rounded CW icon (later ones got the current twin flags icon) it has the pop-out diver’s extension instead of the ratchet micro adjuster of later bracelets. Small adjustments are carried out by moving the clasp spring bar between different holes. The strap’s original polished centre links have been brushed to give the strap a more modern look (Mk3 bracelets are all brushed).

Condition

The head is in fantastic condition - it looks more like a one year old watch than a seven year old! The Sapphire and bezel are pristine and the case only has very light blemishes: some light ones on the lugs from an amateur strap change and some very light ones on the rear case which would easily Cape Cod out.

The strap has been brushed by the previous owner and is in near new condition - just a few desk diving marks on the clasp. These straps originally came with six removable links. This one has had two removed and has one included as a spare, so unless you have a very large wrist, you’ll be well served.

On the timegrapher it’s keeping perfect time and it’s offered as a ‘full' set’ box and papers.
