Christopher Ward C8 UTC Worldtimer

Launched in 2016 at £900, I instantly loved the look of the C8 UTC, with its offset crowns - the lower of which rotates the internal ‘worldtimer’ bezel. But it wasn’t until 2018 that I first got my hands on one and it didn’t disappoint - it was the silver version, as opposed to the DLC (diamond like carbon) black of the one for sale here. It’s just as nice in the flesh as it looks in photographs. It’s a big watch at 44mm, but at a relatively modest 11.5mm tall, it doesn’t wear too big on the wrist (The C60 GMT, which uses the same ETA movement, stands at 13.8mm).

In case you weren’t already aware, the fourth hand (with the red arrow) takes 24 hours to complete one trip around the dial, making it a great travel partner. When I’m away from the UK, I set the internal rotating bezel to display LON at the top, then set the red GMT hand to London time, so I’m just a glance away from seeing the time at home.

By the time it was retired at the end of 2019 the price had risen to £1,000. With this being an 23rd October 2019 watch, it’s certainly one of the later C8 UTCs to leave Park Street. The CW movement warranty is valid until October 2024.

Strap:
Fitted with the original Tiber brown CW leather strap, which has quick-release spring bars.

Condition:
This is a used watch offered in fantastic condition. The black PVD coating on the case is highly scratch resistant and very hard-wearing. As a result, the case appears unmarked to my naked eye inspection.

It’s in perfect working order and the time-keeping is approx. -17sec per day - so a bit of room for recalibration if you’re fussy, but it’s still a few seconds inside CW’s stated +/-20sec. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me, too!

The strap is in good used condition.
