Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro Automatic Mk1 43mm

The Mk1 C60 Trident hit the watch world in 2009. It was available in a Henry Ford style ‘any colour you want, as long as it’s black’. The initial price of just £300 was a ridiculous bargain and the watch was an instant hit.

Fast forward to 2012, CW introduced the CHR. WARD logo (replacing the original round CW icon) and also added orange/black, blue/blue, red/red, green/green, charcoal/black and finally the khaki/black model you see here. The khaki model was the least popular seller at the time (followed by the charcoal), so as often happens, they’re now the most desirable/collectable of that range.

The price for those CHR. WARD models was £440 for a rubber/leather model and £510 on the bracelet - still a fantastic deal compared to other Swiss divers which use the same movement - of which there are plenty.

This particular watch was sold in October 2014 and was originally fitted with a black bezel. A previous owner acquired a damaged khaki model and switched the bezel onto this watch. That’s the only way it’s possible to get a coloured bezel as it’s always been CW’s policy to refuse requests for bezel colour changes. Even if they did sell coloured bezels (which they don’t), they ran out of coloured Mk1 spares years ago… So if you damage a Mk1 coloured bezel, your only replacement option from CW would be to switch to a black one.

Condition

For a watch that’s almost eight years old, it’s in great condition. It has been worn, so there are a few light blemishes from use here and there, including a light mark on the bezel at 16 minutes. There are also scratches on the bracelet clasp, light marks on the rest of the bracelet and light scratches on the case back from having been repeatedly set down on the bracelet.

The original CW stainless bracelet (with pop-out diver’s extension) has had two links removed, which are both included.

It comes boxed with user guide/Certificate of Authenticity and original covering letter.

On the Timegrapher it’s keeping great (COSC spec) time at +6sec per minute.
