Christopher Ward C11 MSL Vintage stainless

The C11 was Christopher Ward’s second square men’s watch, following in the footsteps of 2008’s C13/C15 Henley models - C13 being the quartz model and C15 being the auto. Rather than being designed as dress watches like the C13/15, the C11 came in aviation, dive and even motorsport styles.

The aviation style C11 MSL (mean sea level) first surfaced in 2011 with the PVD-coated-case ‘black manta’, with its white markers and original, circular CW logo. In 2012, at the same time as the CHR. WARD logo’s introduction, the C11 range exploded with silver and black case MSLs, Vintage marker MSLs, a quartz chronograph and the very popular C11 Makaira dive range.

The watch in this listing is a stainless finish, vintage marker, self-winding automatic model.

Condition
It’s in great used condition. It was owned as part of a large collection by an elderly gent who went into a care home. He took his watches with him, but unfortunately the owner's book was lost as part of the move, so I don't know its exact date - it will be between 2012 and 2015. As it happened, I had a correct book in stock, so it does come with the correct user manual, but the serial number doesn't match!

It is a worn watch, so there are some light blemishes here and there. The ‘worst’ are couple of marks at around 4 and 5 o’clock on the bezel and a light one across the top left screw hole. The strap is one of the best I’ve seen - almost new condition. With CW havinbg long sold out of replacement straps, it’s very rare to see one this clean these days.

On the timegrapher it’s keeping a constant +14sec per day - comfortably inside CW’s +/-20sec target.

Final Notes

  • Note the first photograph is a library shot, the rest all show the actual watch and package.

  • Having followed CW for many years, I’ve observed a few of instances of crowns being pulled out/off of C11 MSLs. So it’s advised to take extra care when pulling the crown out to the time-adjusting position three.
