Christopher Ward C11 MSL Chronograph

The C11 is one of a few ‘square’ watches produced by Christopher Ward over the years - the others are the C13/C15 Henley from 2008 and a brief appearance from the C5 Malvern Slim Square in 2016/17.

The C11 Chronograph (quartz) for sale here is one of the two C11 launch models and is one of the first to wear the then ‘new’ CHR. WARD logo (the other C11 launch watch was the non-chrono automatic). The C11s arrived in 2011, were well received and started a long line of aviation and dive style C11 model variations. The chronograph model cost £350, or £400 for the PVD black version when it was available between 2011 and 2014 and the auto model cost £450-£500 at launch, rising £50 by the time of its retirement).

While the PVD model cost more when these watches were released due to the extra manufacturing costs, it’s actually the silver ones which are now more desirable - which is understandable when you get chance to appreciate the nice details like the polished edge around the top of the case contrasting against the brushed top and sides.

This particular watch was sold in April 2014, making it one of the latest/youngest C11 chronos available. I use the term ‘available’ pretty loosely, because these chronos have become pretty collectable over the years and are becoming increasing difficult to come by, especially in nice condition - so it’s not like there’s ever a selection to choose from! If you ever see a minter for sale, just grab it because it won’t be around for long!

Condition
It's just over seven years old and is a used watch, so it’s picked up a few light marks here and there over the years, but they’re nothing which couldn’t be removed by a suitably skilled specialist - there are no deep dents or dings and the crystal is perfect. The ‘worst’ blemishes are around the top of the bezel, but they can only be seen in certain lights. Overall, I’d rate the head as an 8 out of 10 - great used condition.

The quick-release strap shows a lot more wear than the head, it’s soft and supple from use and the lining, which was originally cream, is now stained darker from use. The original CW buckle has been switched out for a generic one, so I’d rate the strap 4 out or 10 - it still has plenty of life in it, but its best days are in the past.

Supplied in its original inner and outer case including owner’s book (with Certificate of Authenticity) and a copy of the accompanying buyer’s letter.
